Indonesia Impact Alliance and KINETIK host event at Impact Investment Summit

Indonesia Impact Alliance and KINETIK held a breakfast at the Impact Investment Summit in Sydney that explored opportunities in climate and impact investment in Indonesia.

Across Indonesia, a new generation of impact enterprises is tackling challenges from sustainable agriculture to clean energy and water management.

However, a key challenge is the financing gap for the “missing middle” – businesses needing AUD 100,000 to AUD one million, which are too large for microfinance but too small for institutional investors.

Indonesia Impact Alliance was established in 2023 to foster impact investment in Indonesia.

Its Executive Director Atika Benedikta hosted a panel exploring what makes Indonesia a compelling market for climate and impact investment and how best to close the financing gap.

The panellists – ADM Capital Managing Director, Sustainable Finance Lisa Genasci, AC Ventures’ Managing Partner Helen Wong and Ternakin co-founder Michael Hadiono – discussed how investors, development partners and entrepreneurs can work together more effectively.

The Australian Embassy in Indonesia’s First Secretary Climate Finance, Harriet Horsfall, said DFAT had worked hard to bring opportunities and perspectives from across the region to the Impact Investment Summit.

“We see enormous potential in connecting Australian capital with high-impact opportunities,” she said.
